Located in the high demand scenic Scarborough Bluffs neighbourhood, 21 Thatcher has ample of curb appeal with it’s black and white tudor style facade and beautiful landscaping surrounding the frontage. It catches the attention of passer by stopping to admire the it’s striking appearance.

15 years ago, the owners found a cozy little home within a 10 minute walking distance down to the Scarborough Bluffs. This neighbourhood has blossomed over the decade with many luxury new homes taking over small bungalows which were torn down by developers. It is a friendly neighbourhood where neighbours meet and have a spontaneous conversation as they walk their dogs or as they go for walks.

21 Thatcher was a bungalow many decades ago, but a second floor was added in the 1980s. When the owners found it, they fell in love with the open layout of the living room that spans front to back on half of the house while the kitchen, dining room and powder room took the other half. The open staircase walks up to an open concept bedroom, which was used as an office or den by its previous owner. A spacious master bedroom with his and her closets, a double slider and a walk-in closet provide ample storage. The next bedroom is a good size with a single closet. The laundry room is nestled conveniently between the bedrooms next to the single full size washroom. There is no basement. It has a crawl space and some room for storage. The front half of the basement has a retaining wall with soil behind it. The floor is solid and does not squeak which is a rarity from an old home such as this.

The owners were designers and had a vision of how they wanted the house to vibe. It was not going to be just another typical Home Depot style reno or the you know, white Carrera marble tiles that every flipper picks. The finishes were carefully selected with high end Italian tiles for the kitchen and power room with heated kitchen floors. The kitchen countertop edge was sliced 45 degrees to appear thinner. The morning sunlight to enter the kitchen which exits to the deck outside where breakfast can been eaten outdoors. The house is filled with light no matter what time of day it is.

Up the stairs is the open concept bedroom that can be an office space with a glass railing. The glass railing opens up the view of the room overlooking the art decor wall. There are many very unique out of the box ideas for those who can appreciate having something unique that it is not like countless typical renovations. This house takes on its on character.

The outdoor space is a wonderful feature of this house! The lot is long and provides lots of separation between the back neighbours Richard and Marie who are very nice and friendly and have lived there for as long as the owners. One deck has a unique wall of bamboo which was to cover the house that used to be there without a fence. The zen vibe of the bamboo is lit up at night with the backyard trees. The side deck is another great deck with planter pots that provide beautiful annual flowers each year. Over looking both decks are gorgeous Japanese maples. At night the decks lit up with pot lights giving a restaurant ambience. The outdoor space is simply a hallmark of this house and great for hosting lots of friends and family during the summer time.

21 Thatcher is one of those houses that does not come by often. It has it’s own personality and vibe for the right family who is looking the right mix of indoor and great outdoor space.
